OBSERVATION: A Hearst magazine convened engineers and officials and published a widely circulated rebuttal of the main 9/11 conspiracy-theory families. The book form appeared 15 August 2006. It is derivative of expert interviews and of public records (Commission, early NIST) rather than a new instrumented test.

CRITIQUE already in the public record: AE911Truth and others argue the magazine selected experts and framed 'myths.' That dispute is about editorial independence, not about whether the article exists.

INTERPRETATION: Supports official-adjacent accounts (H001, H003, H014 contradict for missile). Independence is medium. Do not treat Popular Mechanics as a second NIST. Do not hide it because alternative researchers dislike it.
