Ryan compiles NIST temperature figures, molten-metal witness language, RJ Lee iron-sphere percentages, USGS molybdenum spheres, and FEMA Appendix C sulfidation, and treats them as requiring a heat source above office-fire steel-melting.
Interpretation
Steel weakening (NIST) vs steel melting (Ryan) is a known distinction. Microspheres have proposed non-explosive origins. Thermite is an inference, not a unique chemical ID in this chapter (Harrit is ch.12).
