OBSERVATION: After a lawsuit, NYC released hundreds of FDNY oral histories. Many firefighters, officers, and EMS workers describe explosion-like sounds and sensations around the collapses of WTC 1, WTC 2, and in some cases WTC 7. An explosion report is an observation of a sound or pressure event. Identifying the source (floors failing, fuel, transformers, demolition charges) is an interpretation. NIST treats these as collapse-sequence noises. Alternative investigators treat the volume of reports as pattern evidence for charges.
